How does it feels like when you have 8 cousins but seldom speak to 7 of them? disappointed? definitely. It's already pathetic enought that i've only 8 cousins but still i'm glad I have them in my family tree(:
2 cousins are Singaporeans and the rest Australians. For those two in Singapore, one is in the army and the other, who i talk to frequently, is still studying too. At least I know what they're doing. To know what my aussie cousins are doing, fb is the best way for me to find out. Or my auntie will update me once a while of their whereabouts and how they are. It's great to know how your cousins are doing (:
I remembered Pearlin asked me to be her flower girl when i was 10 but mum refused to let me attend the wedding because I just came back from aussie 3 months before her wedding :( Mum wouldn't let me go again :( The same thing happened to Doreen's wedding but I can't rmb if i was asked to be the flower girl. Disappointment :'( There's still vague memories about them taking care of me when the whole lot of them came to sg years ago :D I think since the visit to their house when i'm 10, i'm seldom in contact with them until recently. That's the cons when I started only to have internet connection at home when 11/12. too late to build ties.
6.5 years later, everyone grew up. Those who are marrying married. Those who are studying either graduated or are still studying hard. Started to know more about them from their fb but we ain't talking. don't ask me why. i don't know.
As for sg cousins, I'm glad i've them here. Imagine living in sg without any relatives, only your family, uncle and popo. That's pathetic.
Guess what I want to emphasize is that kinship is really important. Building ties with your own siblings are impt too. Once day when your parents are gone, you'll need all the support from each other. You know you still have your siblings and cousins to support you. Don't sour your relationship with them. build bonds. even small little ways counts. That's what my auntie taught me. I love spending one to one with her. She'll teach me to treasure things even though she frequently repeats them.
That's all I want to say i guess. treasure them won't ya?
